Dear Parents & Carers, 27th June, 2023
I have been informed of the intention by the National Education Union to instruct its members to take industrial action next month.
Preparation for Industrial action: Wednesday 5th July & Friday 7th July
I expect our school to be affected by the planned industrial action by members of the NEU, and so once again I am asking parents to be prepared for disruption. It will probably be a very similar pattern to last time. Therefore, I anticipate on Wednesday and Friday, the following arrangements:
- Daycare and Nursery will be unaffected
- Year 1 and Year 6 will be unaffected
- Reception, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 will have attendance restricted to children eligible for Free School Meals and children of key workers (namely those working in NHS, public services and transport). We will expect all eligible children, listed last time. Parents only need to contact, if they think their children may be eligible to attend but did not confirm a place last time.
I will confirm the final arrangements on Monday 3rd July.
Summer Sports Programme
As usual we will be hosting our Sports programme over the next few weeks, luckily it is unaffected by the industrial action. The programme includes each class showcasing a sport they have been learning and everyone competing in athletic heats, leading to a finals afternoon as indicated (afternoons beginning at 1.30 pm):
Tuesday, 11th July Year 5
Wednesday, 12th July Year 4
Thursday, 13th July Year 3 (Athletics heats)
Friday, 14th July Year 3 (Swimming at Mill House Pool, from 10 am)
Early Years Sports Afternoon
Monday, 17th July Year 2
Tuesday, 18th July Year 1
Wednesday, 19th July Finals Day (Year 1 to Year 5)
Dates for Year 6
I thought it might be helpful for parents, carers and families of children in Year 6 to have the dates of the various activities relating to their leaving and transition to secondary, which are as follows:
Friday 7th July – Year 6 Celebration Collective Worship for parents
Wednesday 12th July – Leavers Mass, joining the parish for 9.00 am Mass in St. John Vianney Church
Friday 14th July – Good-bye’ Worship for Year 6 led by Year 5,
followed by refreshments for parents & families
Followed by, sports morning, including heats & finals from 10.00 am
Year 6 ‘leave’ our school on the afternoon of Friday 14th, as they have their Transition Week from Monday 17th – Thursday 20th July, in their new Secondary Schools.
Yours sincerely,
John Hardy, Head Teacher
